The Moon, beautiful and silent. The Sun, bold and vibrant. Opposites in the universe, and yet both so in love with each other. They look upon their child Earth, protecting it from the horrors and destruction of the universe itself. Both Moon and Sun are only able to see each other when the day is beginning or closing. At those times beauty surrounds the Earth, wrapping it in a warm blanket, the Sun glows brighter, his heart growing larger, happier, light bursting fourth streaking molten gold across the sky, trying to touch his beloved Moon. He calls to his Moon, cries for her to wait for him.
"I'll wait for you" she cries back, struggling to reach out to him but all the while growing ever more transparent until she sinks below the horizon and out of his view.
Then the sun stops his reaching, the previous blinding flash of light dumbs down to a soft gray, the Sun hanging it's head, the Earth weeping. While the Moon cries out for her beloved, tears staining her beautiful face.
For hours the Moon hides away, giddily awaiting the time when she may see her Sun, just below the Earths horizon she waits, and waits. Wanting with every fibre of her being to appear earlier, to chase the Sun and touch him. But the universe, a cruel and unkind force, holds her back, laughing as she struggles to appear for her Sun, finally pushing her away when the Sun is too far away for her to reach in time.
Sometimes the universe will let the Moon go just as the Sun sinks below the horizon, it howls with cruelty as the Moon cries, shedding silver tears that merge with the black velvety sky that is her Sunless kingdom. At those times, to her, all hope of touching her dear Sun is lost, she turns from her child Earth, hiding herself in shadow, silently weeping, unable to stop the dark thoughts of a hopeless love.
